Life in America... More than three out of four married employees have spouses
or partners who are also employed. Nearly 50% of all US workers feel overwhelmed by a growing
number of job tasks and longer working hours. 88% of employees said that their jobs require them to work
longer hours, and 68% complained of having to work at greater speeds.
42% of workers have responsibility for children under 18
years of age. Seventy five percent of employees take care of personal
responsibilities while on the job. Thirty six percent say that they take care of personal responsibilities
at work daily. Circles, 2001 It takes an employee nearly two hours to take care of personal
business on company time. Circles, 2001 8 out of 10 working mothers report they do far more of the
household chores than their spouse or partner. It is obvious from the statistics that time is a valuable commodity and a scarce one. It’s About Time would like to help change that.
